Chan Yeong Foong (YC) is the Founder and Managing Partner of Y F Chan & Partners. Prior to founding Y F Chan & Partners in 2021, YC was a Partner at Messrs. Lee Gan Teo & Wong, where he gained substantial experience in managing complex legal matters and high-stakes disputes.

YC’s practice encompasses both civil litigation and conveyancing, with a strong emphasis on highly contentious litigation matters. With over six years of legal practice experience, he has throughout the years steadily developed extensive litigation expertise and sharpened his advocacy skills. He regularly represents clients in court proceedings and dispute resolution mechanisms, particularly in commercial and corporate disputes, many of which involve substantial and high-value monetary claims including multi-million-ringgit disputes.

Over the course of his practice, YC has earned professional recognition and awards for his legal work and contributions to the profession, reflecting his dedication, competence and growing standing within the legal industry. He has been entrusted with complex and financially significant matters, demonstrating clients’ confidence in his legal judgment and strategic capabilities.

In addition to commercial and corporate litigation, YC possesses broad experience across a wide range of civil disputes, including tortious claims, land and property disputes, intellectual property matters, contract law, human rights cases, defamation claims and probate and administration of deceased persons’ estates.

Beyond dispute resolution, YC is well-versed in real estate and conveyancing matters. He regularly handles property transactions involving housing-related agreements, banking and financing facilities as well as security and loan documentation. He is also skilled in drafting, reviewing and negotiating various commercial agreements, consistently striving to secure terms that best protect his clients’ interests.

As the Founder and Managing Partner, YC plays a central role in setting the Firm’s strategic direction, maintaining professional standards and fostering a client-focused practice culture. He actively oversees the Firm’s litigation and conveyancing portfolios, mentors junior lawyers and remains personally involved in complex and high-value cases to ensure the delivery of practical, effective and solution-oriented legal services.

YC also serves as a legal advisor to non-governmental organisations and associations. With the extensive exposure and experience accumulated throughout his years of practice, he is able to confidently and diligently provide strategic legal advice to a diverse range of clients, including individuals, corporations and institutional bodies.

Overview

Hui Ying (Riley) graduated from Multimedia University (MMU) with a Bachelor of Laws in 2018. She was subsequently called to the Malaysian Bar and admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 24 May 2019. Prior to joining Y F Chan & Partners as a Partner, she practised in several law firms based in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

Hui Ying’s practice focuses primarily on civil litigation, where she regularly handles a wide range of disputes including breach of contract, land and property disputes, and claims in tort. She also has experience in defending employment-related claims and advising on family law matters. Over the years, she has been involved in highly contentious disputes and has represented high-profile and high-net-worth clients in complex civil litigation proceedings.

In addition to her litigation practice, Hui Ying is experienced in conveyancing matters and actively advises clients on the sale, purchase and financing of real estate properties. Her conveyancing experience includes both developer sales and sub-sale transactions. She is also well-versed in the drafting of commercial agreements and routinely participates in negotiations to assist clients in achieving commercially viable and amicable contractual terms.

Demonstrating her commitment to expanding her professional expertise, Hui Ying is a Registered Trademark Agent in Malaysia, enabling her to advise clients on trademark registration, protection, enforcement and related intellectual property matters. Overview

Goh Chee Kian obtained his Bachelor of Laws, LL.B. (Hons.) from Universiti Utara Malaysia. In 2015, he commenced his pupillage at Messrs. Paul, Amy Chong & Associates under the mentorship of Mr. Paul Krishnaraja. Upon being called to the Bar, he was retained by the firm as a Legal Associate, where he practised from 2016 to 2022.

Chee Kian specialises in criminal litigation and has developed a strong reputation for his dedication to the defence of clients in serious, complex and high-profile criminal matters. With over six years of focused experience in criminal practice, he has been extensively involved in all stages of criminal proceedings, including investigations, bail applications, remand proceedings, trials and appeals. He regularly appears before the Magistrates’ Courts, Sessions Courts, High Courts and Court of Appeal, representing clients across a wide spectrum of criminal offences.

Known for his meticulous case preparation, strategic legal analysis and persuasive advocacy, Chee Kian is deeply committed to safeguarding his clients’ rights and ensuring fair trial processes. His practice reflects a strong passion for criminal defence work, particularly in matters involving significant legal and personal consequences for the accused.
